How To Play MKV Files On Your TV Using Chromecast

The Chromecast is one of the best media streamers available with thousands of apps available. While many people use Chromecast mainly for Netflix, Hulu, and mirroring their Android devices screens, many don’t know you can use Chromecast to play local media from your computer’s hard drive including MKV files.

 

Please note Videostream for Google Chromecast requires the official Google cast extension which you should have already installed.

 

Step 1: Install Videostream extenstion for Chrome browser.

To do so just open the Chrome Web Store, search for “Videostream” and click “add to Chrome”.

Step 2: Launch VideoStream through the Chrome app launcher or by typing chrome://apps into your browser URL bar.

Step 3: Open videostream

Step 4: Your video should start playing right away.

You can also download the Videostream Remote on your Android or iOS device to control Videostream from the comfort of your couch without having to walk back and forth to your computer.
